Meet the Executive Board for the 2023 Studio Orchestra Season! This team works tirelessly behind the scenes to put on a successful 2023 Season! The Board is made up of graduate and undergraduate students from a variety of concentrations within music. The Board looks forward to making a vision reality and hopes you are willing to join them on the journey!
Music Director
Dr. Nathan Haines
Nathan Haines is an accomplished conductor, educator, and the new director of orchestras at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He holds a Ph.D. in Orchestral Conducting and Music Education from Florida State University, where he served as the associate conductor of orchestras, taught courses in conducting, and pursued research in the art of conducting and music education under the mentorship of Dr. Alexander Jiménez.
President
Renzo Decarlo
Renzo DeCarlo is a clarinetist, creator, and above all else, a collaborator. Currently, Renzo is currently an undergraduate at Florida State University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in music performance, with minors in economics and French, and a certificate in music entrepreneurial studies. An avid chamber musician, Renzo has performed masterworks by Strauss, Schubert, and Nielsen.
Secretary
Dr. Kelly Evans
Kelly received her PhD in elementary music education. She holds an undergraduate degree in vocal performance from High Point University and a master's degree in music education from Florida State. She has taught middle school and elementary chorus and general music in public schools. This is her second year as the secretary of the Studio Orchestra. Fun fact: Kelly's favorite video game soundtrack is Skyrim, which she repeatedly played to her daughter through headphones while she was pregnant.

Brenna Miller
Brenna Miller is a flautist, a scholar, and a designer. She is currently an undergraduate at Florida State University and is pursuing a dual degree in Woodwind Performance and Editing, Writing, and Media. Through work with various arts organizations like the National Flute Association and the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, Brenna has experience in marketing and publicizing events to the public.

Abigail Whitehurst
Abigail Whitehurst is a fourth-year undergraduate bassoon performance major at Florida State University, where she studies with Jeff Keesecker. Abigail demonstrates leadership as a principal player and as the organizer and conductor of bassoon studio performances at the PRISM concert series every year at Florida State.

Cyrus Paul​
Cyrus Paul is a fourth-year undergraduate student at Florida State University pursuing a BA in Music with a concentration in Jazz Studies and a certificate in Music Entrepreneurship. He works with local arts organizations like LeMoyne Arts and brings knowledge of the local community.
String Personnel Manager
Grace Lege
Grace is a future music educator and cellist graduating with honors due to her recent publication of her creative project titled "Dangerous Music": Censorship in Wartime and Protest Music. She has served as president of FSU's American String Teacher Association, which won 2022's most improved collegiate chapter under her leadership. Most recently, Grace has completed a semester as an intern conductor for the FSU Sinfonia (non-major orchestra). She is highly passionate about music in film, video games, and other media, and her favorite childhood soundtrack is Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim!

Anisa Herbert
Anisa Herbert is currently a junior studying BM Woodwind Performance on the oboe. Under the guidance of Dr. Eric Ohlsson, Anisa has performed for oboists such as Titus Underwood and Emily Brebach. Along with playing the oboe, Anisa enjoys playing video games such as Overwatch on her free time. Once she graduates, Anisa hopes to find herself in California for graduate school, where she’ll begin her journey as a studio musician, recording for movies and tv shows.
